Scotts Valley Unified School District is a place where lots is happening! Check this space often to see what’s going on!
Strategic Planning:
A group of parents, students, staff and community members are engaged in developing a strategic plan to guide the district into the future. With the help of a facilitator, the Strategic Planning Committee is working to define the values of the district, and from those to develop a mission statement and a vision for the future. Anyone interested in being part of the process can call the Superintendent’s Office at 438-1820, ext. 105, and volunteer to participate in one of the many Task Forces. The process will result in a written plan that will serve as a guide and accountability tool for the district.
Budget Development:
For the first time in recent history, the school district is experiencing a decline in student enrollment. Because funding is based on Average Daily Attendance (ADA), this means that funding for the district will decline in 2006-07, perhaps by nearly $600,000 out of about an $18 million budget. This will call for some hard decisions on the part of the Board. Budget discussions will be occurring at regularly scheduled Board meetings, the second and fourth Tuesdays of most months.
